Do vegans eat chicken?

I have been asked many times whether vegans can eat chicken or not. This is a question that comes up to me from time to time and is usually asked by people who are not familiar with the concept of vegan diets.
Vegans cannot eat chicken. Vegans avoid consuming any meat from living creatures and avoid other animal products such as milk, eggs and leather.

In fact, not only is chicken not vegetarian, it is not even suitable for vegetarians.

Eating any form of chicken is one of the best feelings for some individuals, and we have to keep in mind that some people actually can’t eat chicken; these individuals are vegetarians and vegans.

As we have mentioned many times before, whether we are being vegetarian or vegan or anything related means having a completely different lifestyle.

Today we are going to discuss a fascinating question “why don’t vegans eat chicken.”

But before answering the question, we should learn about veganism and vegans.

So, let’s start and learn about our vegetarian friends and what vegans eat.

History of the vegans

Veganism is the form of vegetarianism. Samos, the Greek philosopher, first mention it around 500 BCE.

This concept is traced back to ancient India. Many Indian philosophers are vegetarian, like Parsvanatha, Mahavira,Acharya Kundakunda, UmaSwati, andSamantabhadra, as Empedocles, Theophrastus, Plutarch, Plotinus, and Porphyry are also vegetarian.

What is Veganism

They believe that they should not harm other creatures.

The very first vegetarian society was formed in 1847 in England. After 3 years, graham, the inventor of the graham crackers, founded the “American vegetarian society” after then, the woodworker named Watson created a new term name “vegan” in 1944 for people who did not eat eggs and believed that eggs make chickens suffer.

Six countries with a history of veganism

  1. India: the earliest vegetarianism (we talked about it already.)
  2. China: over 50 million Chinese people are vegetarian in China. Many of them are meat-free because of their beliefs.
  3. Japan: green foods are part of the great culture of the Japanese people.
  4. Greece: vegetarianism has a long history in this country, and the ancient philosophers approved of animals.
  5. Jamaica is the birthplace of Rastafari, a religious movement that spread worldwide.
  6. Israel: today, Israel has a leading role in vegetarianism.

Difference between vegans & vegetarians

The main difference between vegans and vegetarians is that vegans don’t eat eggs, milk, chickens ,etc….

why Vegans don’t eat chickens
Vegans don’t eat chickens

Imagine a beautiful little chick dying; it’s unpleasant to think about.

Let me give you another example. They avoid drinking milk. You ask why? Cause when cows start lactation, humans keep the cows pregnant.

They keep lactating for about 3-7 years and then are slaughtered by humankind. Again, it’s so depressing.

The second difference between dietary vegans and veganism is the cloth they wear. Many clothes, like silk, fur, feathers, etc., are made from animals.

Ethic vegans believe that eggs and the products like that would harm and cause the animal’s death.

Again, dietary vegans might wear such clothes, but people who believe in veganism don’t do that and prefer wearing clothes made from plants like cotton, canvas, and polyester.

People who believe in veganism also don’t use self-care products made from anything related to animals.

Chickens do not lay eggs
Chickens do not lay eggs

Why don’t vegans eat chicken?

Vegans do not exploit animals.

They believe Chickens do not lay eggs for us and humen use them to continue the species and sadly, too, because they’ve been genetically altered to produce a seriously high number of eggs under all conditions. Ethical sanctuaries return the eggs to the chickens so they can repair the damage done to their bodies by egglaying.

And let’s not forget what happens to male chicks who can’t lay eggs.

So, we came back to the main topic of the article:

The health

Make no mistake, chicken is not a health food, but it is relatively low in saturated fat compared to many types of meat.

According to the “American Nutrition Association” (ADA), you can be healthy throughout your life with a proper vegan diet and help prevent and treat certain diseases.

Ethical issues
Vegans believe that humans do not have the right to kill and use animals. What happens in animal slaughterhouses and chicken farms is very sad.
Many chickens suffer in industrial chicken farms, and with this decision, vegans want fewer chickens to be killed in slaughterhouses.

Vegan VS Vegetarian

You Need to understand that there is two breeds of chicken. Those meant for eating, male chickens are used – and those meant for egg production, female chickens are used. Since there is almost a 50/50 split of male and female chickens, the unused chickens get shredded alife .

See how slaughterhouses kill thousands of chickens an hour:

ARVE Error: The [[arve]] shortcode needs one of this attributes av1mp4, mp4, m4v, webm, ogv, url

which means for every egg you eat and every chicken you consume, other chickens had to die -just because someone decided they are useless.

of the eggs produced stem from hens in very small cages and even if they are cage-free chicken that does not mean the chicken are treated well or have lots of space.

I think all of these reasons are understandable even for non-vegans.

World hunger
Currently, nearly one billion people are hungry in the world. At the same time, for the production of meat and poultry, humans consume a large amount of plants for animal feed, and this food is used for the growth and movement of animals. For example, to produce one kilogram of chicken meat, 16 kilograms of grain are needed.
The environment
Researchers have come to the conclusion that eating meat is considered to be the biggest risk to the environment after vehicles and fossil fuels. Reports estimate that raising livestock (cattle, buffalo, sheep, goats, pigs, and chickens) for human consumption accounts for 18% of pollutants and greenhouse gases, while fossil fuel consumption by all vehicles accounts for 13%. Research shows that at least 51% of livestock are produced by livestock farms.

Can vegetarians eat chicken?

  1. As we said in our reportbefore.

Vegetarians have different philosophies. They believe that humankind should not harm animals. In the modern age, they keep animals like chickens in small cages, which is one of the main reasons vegans avoid eating chickens.

Also, the chickens and most other animals are pretty smart, just like dogs and cats.

They are good at solving problems, can remember past events, and most importantly, have feelings. Let me give you an example. Would you like to hurt a child and laugh after that?

No, because you see the little guy cry, making you sad. Vegans feel the same way about animals. That’s another answer to “why don’t vegans eat chicken? “They don’t eat animal products and anything related to animals.

Also, they think it’s pretty unhealthy. You ask why?

In the modern age, they fill chickens with a lot of salt water, which means chickens have a lot of sodium, and guess what?

A lot of sodium is unhealthy. And also, people who eat chickens have a higher risk of salmonella poisoning, E-coli, etc.

And some chickens are filled with arsenic, and it’s unhealthy again.

The poultry industries pollute the other wildlife like seas, jungles, etc. this causes a lot of damage to us too. I don’t want to get damaged, you know?

Do vegans eat chicken broth?

Guys, listen carefully. Chicken broth is an animal-related product. You agree with that, right?

This makes it uneatable for vegetarians. Some say broth contains a little amount of chicken, about 5%.

Why vegans don’t you eat chicken broth? Their life, their choice. We should learn to respect them, Like how they respect us.

You can’t change people and their philosophy. They chose to live like that.

What about chicken flavor?

Can vegetarians eat chicken? Answer is no, but what about chicken flavor? Yes, they can, if only it doesn’t contain chicken.

They use products that taste like chicken. We say it again “tastes like chicken.” Vegans don’t eat chickens.

Why do people usually ask vegans why they don’t eat chicken?

Let us answer you. Some people quit eating red meat but continue eating chicken and fish meat, which creates a lot of misunderstandings between vegans and the other half who don’t consider chicken and other poultry meat.

We hope you people got it and understand that vegan diets work.

Some people think we became vegan for health reasons and to lose weight
When we talk to people about healthy foods, most of them think that chicken salad, broccoli, vegetables and carrots are the best choices.
They think that vegans chose this lifestyle for weight loss and health, and the question arises for them:
Why don’t you eat chicken?
We answer them:
1- Chicken is not a healthy food, and in industrial chicken farms, chickens are kept in very bad conditions, and some of them die due to disease, and many strong antibiotics are injected into the chickens in order to survive. So, the chickens that are in the basket of stores contain many antibiotics and drugs that are very harmful for us.
2- There is a sad story for chickens behind the scenes of chicken farms and they are kept in the worst conditions. I suggest you watch videos related to the poultry industry
We do not want animals to be harmed or tortured for our food.
3- There are many delicious substitutes that I use instead of chicken in my dishes, such as mushrooms and beans
4- Plant food sources are much healthier

Does veganism affect our health?

  • Yeah, it does. A vegan diet is very effective for reducing body weight.
  • Researchers say that a vegan diet reduces cancer risk.
  • Reduces heart disease by lowering the cholesterol of the body.
  • Manage diabetes.

After all, your body has some needs, some essential nutrition. If you are a vegan, you should obtain that food in other ways.

  • Proteins: animal meat is not the only protein source in this fantastic world. You can get these sources from other things like soy products, brown rice, fresh soybeans, quinoa, lentils, rolled oats, tofu, almonds, walnuts, green peas
  • Vitamin B12: the lack of B12 would make you feel tired. vegans can get it from different cereals , soy drinks, vegetable milks such as soy milk, almond milk, hazelnut milk, nutritional yeast and enriched cereals
  • Iron: There are many plants that are rich in iron, and vegetarians and vegans can get their iron from plant sources such as sesame, spinach, broccoli, tomatoes, sunflower seeds, lentils, potatoes, olives, beans, black-eyed peas, They receive peas. , plums, dried fruits and tofu.. they receive.

The consumption of billions of fried chicken and Kentucky Fried Chicken and of course the desire of some vegetarians to repeat the pleasant experience of eating fried chicken made a British company think of producing vegetarian fried chicken.
The first fake, vegetarian roast chicken with artificial bones has hit UK supermarket shelves. However, this has sparked controversy as some vegans (vegetarians) say the food product looks too much like real fried chicken.

Juicy hamburgers and tuna fish without fish have been sold before, and this new jackfruit chicken, which is made from a combination of jackfruit, mushrooms, carrots and some hidden spices and herbs, is not the first vegetarian food that resembles animal food.

Beef CEO Bloom Burroughs said some vegans may be offended by the product’s realism, but the company is determined to steer meat lovers away from the temptation of eating real chicken;
he said:

“We want to make a product that’s not only better for the planet, but can show people that non-meat products can provide a similar experience,”

In the end

Our vegan friends are very kind-hearted that they don’t even want to hurt animals.

This is so beautiful that we have such people in our world. If you can’t be vegan, at least understand them.

Just imagine if the animals were rulers of the world and they made clothes from us, skinned us, and made soups from us or sandwiches. Would you like that?

Veganism changed many people’s beliefs all around the world. However, they have some problems, like the low protein resources, but they try to maintain their body.

In the end, we are glad that you stayed with us until the end of the “Can vegans eat chicken? (Reason + alternatives)  ” article, and we hope you guys have a nice day and don’t forget to eat your vegetables.

Farewell for now.
